How It All Began

I was one of those lucky people who could eat a snickers bar and drink a can of coke without even thinking about it. I never worried about my weight, I never ran for a bus and I thought that dancing around my bedroom was the only exercise I would ever need to do.

Then I turned 30.

It was a shock, the first time I realized that I couldn’t live like a 20-year-old girl for the rest of my life! In addition, I found that after having four children, I no longer knew what ‘me time’ was and although I wanted to make changes, I didn’t feel that I had the energy. I didn’t know what I needed to do, I just knew I had to do something.

That was the first time I went to a local gym and attended a kickboxing class. It was terrifying. So many people in one room. How would I know what to do? Where would I stand? What did I need to wear? Would people be staring at me? Did I need special equipment? That class was the first time, in such a long time, that I forgot myself. I forgot to feel self-conscious about my mummy tummy. I forgot how tired I was. I forgot that I hadn’t done anything remotely energetic since I was at school. I let the music take over, I moved my body and I let go. It was the most incredible sensation. I had energy, I felt good about myself and I didn’t want to stop feeling that way.

I wanted to create a space for women like me. A place to let go of external stress and feel free – just for a little while. A studio that was intimate and not overwhelming – as large aerobics studios can sometimes be. I understood the need for women to be seen, not just as someone’s mother or partner, but as an individual. I understood that as working mothers we need an atmosphere that makes working out seem less of a chore and more like time out from a hectic lifestyle. An environment which understands that physical and mental health are both vital and deeply connected. I wanted to create a new kind of workout space that allowed an individual to reach their personal goals, whatever they may be.

With fun classes, different music and equipment, every class is unique which significantly reduces the boredom factor and clock watching!

Smaller groups mean that each member gets personal attention, preventing injuries that can occur by doing a movement incorrectly.

Commitment is a vital part of making a change. In a small studio, you feel more inclined to attend, knowing that your absence will be noticed and personally dealt with.

The focus is on you.

Your goals.

Your lifestyle.

Your abilities.

Your chance to change.

Each person who walks through my studio door is important to me. My aim is to help you, in whichever way I can, to see fitness as a fun and enjoyable part of your life.
